Defensive moves usually occur when you are down on numbers, low on paint, or at some other disadvantage. As I mentioned before: Always try to visualize yourself on the field of play while thinking about these moves.
Keys to Defensive Moves:
- Learn to use your other senses, usually when you are in a bunker you have a limited field of vision. Learn to listen, shouting opposing team members, footsteps, marker fire etc. All of these things can be used to gain an advantaged while on the defensive.
- Since the opposing team will like try to make a move on you, know where they will most likely come from, get ready to attack defensively from this side.
- While in your bunker try not to kneel!! Staying on your feet and crouching, kinda like crouching tiger hidden dragon style, gives you the most range of motion, and the most options to defend.
- Know where you are aiming to fire ahead of time, and aim for the mid section. This gives you the best chance to make the mark first.
Now that you have successfully defended your position against the opposing team's offensive move, it's time for you to go on the offensive! I usually go for the bunker where the attacker came from, that should give you decent field position, as always it depends on the situation at hand, see offensive moves 101 for more help on making smart offensive moves.
